    So.....

What do you think is the major reason the Imperivm Romanvm has collapsed?

And if we could have stopped that, or if it didn't happen at all, would the Roman Empire have continued to exist?

Well, the reason is, the romans economy grew on Conquest, survived on it.
They conquered all possible, thus. Crunching their economic works to dust.

I reckon the reason was (this is by knowledge btw, I haven't looked on wiki or anything) that they stretched their empire too far to govern properly. Barbarians attacked the weak parts and the Romans had to retreat to the inner parts of their empire, thus dividing their empire into 2. The Western Roman Empire was the biggest and hardest to control and it took most of the barbarian attacks. The Eastern Roman Empire flourished and became the Byzantine Empire. Western Rome was made even weaker by the Huns pushing the barbarians into Roman territory. Eventually this all lead to the sacking of Rome itself. The Eastern Roman empire was still flourishing.

    I agree with this, really.

Barbarians weren't the biggest reasons. Incapable emperors, an unclear government, corrupt governors and, when Christianity arrived, the famous Roman tolerance started to disappear.

Economically seen the Slave system was simply outdated, and the lack of conquest, which is a huge component of Roman culture, was awful to the Empire as well.

Above all this, ''barbarians'' made the Roman Empire finally fall.
